Beware of the hacked website!

At the moment beware of the MathMods website - it has been hacked by someone! After browsing to any page there automatically appears a window asking for a file download and run - the file is recognizing by antivirus software as "Trojan horse BackDoor.Generic9.NVU". So keep your eyes open not to accidentally push Enter or click on the Run button whilst browsing www.mathmods.eu.

Internet connection in L'Aquila

I guess all of us have already got Danilo Lariviera's message about Internet opportunities in L'Aquila.

In this topic I'd like all of the students to say whether they are going to use Internet in the residence or not.

As for me, I'm very happy and thankful that we were given such a possibility and I think it's quite cheap to pay EUR 4 per month for it.

As far as I understood the overall bandwidth of intenet channel is 20 Mb/s, so since there're 28 of us and I guess most of us will use it, the speed may be a bit low but it hopefully be enough and we won't have to arrange a second line to increase it.

Date of Arrival

Hello all!

I hope everyone is doing well, especially with their VISA application. I believe most of us, if not all, are already going through it. And one of the things that they will ask is whether you have already booked a flight and when.

So, I just wanted to know, when do you plan on arriving at L'Aquila? I know Prof. Bruno suggested to arrive between August 25 and August 31 but is there anyone who will arrive on an earlier date?

Obtaining VISAs

In multiple mailing Nilgoon asked the question about obtaining VISAs.
As far as I know, according to Shengen agreement, if you have valid VISA to one of European country, you can easily move to another within European Union.  As both Italy and France are the parts of European Union, I think, after you get VISA to Italy, you shouldn't worry about obtaining VISA to France. I believe our original VISAs will just be extended during our studies in Italy so they could be valid for entering and staying in France. That is just my opinion. Does anyone have other ideas?

Welcome !!!

Hi everybody!

I decided to create a community where we all could get acquainted and stay in touch before meeting each other at the end of August in L'Aquila (and maybe even continue using it for discussing common topics after our study starts).
I believe that sharing ideas and opinions in the community will be more convenient than sending multiple email messages.
Feel free to join this blog.

Friendly yours,
Dmitry Ponomarev.
